Many of us care about what we are wearing versus ensuring if the bank account is increasing….
Is your shoe game better than your score?
Announcement: Buying expensive shoes will not increase your credit score!
Many ladies rely on a “shoe game” when checking out their credit scores and this means that many ladies seem to think that spending an arm and a leg on something like an expensive pair of Jimmy Choo heels is the best way to increase their scores.
It turns out that it is harder to raise your score by playing this kind of "shoe game" with your credit score. Making one time, frivolous purchases can potentially do nothing to help your score. If you're stuck with a terrible interest rate, you may only be making payments that do nothing to benefit you in the long run. Think about it this way – if you were a lender, would you rather give your money to someone who made smart purchases or those who only wallowed in lingering debt due to a silly purchase? There are many tactics that you can use to raise your credit score.
One example is to have a recurring payment come out of your credit cards. This, might be for an example a phone bill, a utility or other payment of that nature. If you are using your credit and paying off your balance as much as possible, this can also affect your score for the positive. Leaving a lingering balance based on a purchase at a shoe store will not help your score. Also, many people use their credit for important purchases, such as for your house or vehicle, which look much better to lenders than your last purchase from Macy's.
If you have any questions about credit and finances, look no further than AskTani. With her expert methodologies, you will soon be on the path to living debt free and actually look forward to crunching the numbers of your finances. Playing the credit game may seem like tough work, but she promises to make it effortless and you can wear that score on your sleeve (and have your Jimmy Choo shoes, too!).
In modern world it is said that money is everything – and in MANY cases, it can be true. Having an easy access to money is worth a lot. However, even though everything looks to be working out pretty well, there are unpredictable events that can put our lives off-balance.

The Importance of Developing a Healthy Relationship with MONEY...
By LaSheik Calhoun
Money is a tool that is sought after to achieve one’s dreams. Money is viewed positively and negatively depending on someone’s perception. I have heard that money is the root of all evil. In my opinion, poverty is the root of all evil. When you have a poverty mindset, you allow money to control your actions and emotions. You will do whatever in order to have money. The key is to align your attitude in order to receive blessings. What you value first will determine your financial outcome.
I viewed an amazing video by Marie Forleo of MarieTV. She was interviewing Kate Northrup, author of Money: A Love Story. The topic was “4 Money Beliefs that Limit your Wealth Inside and Out”. I have seen and witnessed the negative implications of not having enough money or believing in my mind that I didn’t have enough money.
It is possible to have a healthy relationship towards money. We have to make room to receive the blessings in our lives. You have to understand the truth about Godly prosperity, by putting His Kingdom first, every step of the way.
It starts with you and how you view your money. Kate Northrup shared these four money beliefs that limit you from living a prosperous life.
1. Someone else should be doing this for me: You should not place your obligations in someone else’s hands. You are capable of developing good money habits.
2. I’m not good with money: This way of thinking is self sabotage. You are programming your subconscious mind to make money decisions based on a negative perception.
3. People with money are greedy or it’s not spiritual to have money: What I have found is the lack of money stems greed because the lack of money is allowing you to make selfish decisions that may not be good for you.
4. I’m not ________enough: This could be, I’m not smart enough or talented enough to live abundantly. We were not born with certain skills. Some things were learned behaviors based on our environment. Any new habit or skill can be learned with a plan.
I’m on a journey to develop a positive relationship with money. I love how Kate shared that we should check in with our bank account daily. Also we should share three areas where we are abundant. I’m going to start a journal where I write down daily, three things that I value about myself. Also how I added value to someone else’s life.
You should also try these tips to develop a healthy relationship with yourself and money. Join me on this road to abundant living.
Watch the video and let us know your thoughts!
Many have asked “How do I get back on my feet after financial devastation?”
In order to begin the process of getting your life and finances in order, you must make a mental mindset shift. You have to desire things to change. This allows a turning point to take place once you make the decision. The whispers of your dreams must be greater than the cries of your fears.
Reflect on your “why” and allow it to push you towards a better financial future. Fear provides you with clues on what desires lay trapped in your heart. When you remove fear, you are able to see clearly what you want to do with your life.
Fear can sometimes allow you to settle for what you think is your best. When you are birthing your purpose, it is uncomfortable. Anything worth having isn't easy but it will be worth it.
Remind yourself daily that you are a precious child of the Most High God. Your destiny will be blessed if you have faith.
Seek God for guidance by praying. Regardless of what your current situation is, you can become more. Begin by taking your finances back to the basics. Reflect on where you are today. Then imagine where you desire to be. Even if it is making an extra $50 per month, analyze how you are spending your money. Cut out what is not necessary to make room for what your heart desires.
Daily affirmations are important during this journey. What you say to yourself daily is what is going to help you transform your life. The following are great affirmations that I say to myself daily:
• I am victorious
• I deserve everything God has for me
• I am valuable
• I am making the mental transformation needed for me, my family and legacy.
• My mind is made up and with God everything is possible.
While evaluating your finances, start with the basics. Review current and outstanding bills. Place them in order from smallest to largest. Contact every creditor you owe and explain that your goal is to get your life back in order. Inform them that you will have a payment as soon as possible. This may mean one or two months. The most important part of this process is to have a plan of action. Remember: You cannot fix it until you deal with it. Sometimes we are forced to choose which payment to make with limited FUNDS ON HAND.
Results is a key motivating factor in striving to change your financial destiny. When you come to grips with your financial reality, develop a plan to change your financial condition. Stay the course until you see change, even if at first, you do not see results. The process requires discipline and execution on your part.
Allow yourself a minimum of 21 days to understand what your current cash flow conditions are. Trust your instincts and start moving forward to a better financial position. Every 21 days, take this process to another level. The next level may be to purchase books on how to manage your finances, or cutting your expenses by $25 per month.
Wherever you are in life, maximize each situation. You create prosperity by accepting where you are and moving towards the desires of your heart. You are worthy of all that your heart desires.
Dreams are achieved through vision and faith. Many of us have faced obstacles that allowed us to become overwhelmed by the current conditions vs. thinking about ways to get out and move forward. Create the ideal future that you can imagine and as you create an image in your mind of what you want, your mind will create a working plan on how to obtain it. The most powerful thing in the world is an idea ready to form! Have a designated time and place to think, reflect, analyze and develop a plan you can execute. Expect great things. In time they will eventually come! Discover what stimulates your thoughts (it could be reading a book, podcast or seminar) and when you are most creative. Protect and utilize daily this time to effectively harvest and stretch ideas into something meaningful. Understand that a different level of thinking is required to solve today's problems. This level of thinking is different from the thought processes that created the problems. Walking into your financial destiny requires you to participate in this process daily. Don’t be afraid to start where you are. It is never too late.
This letter is written by someone who came from poverty both mentally and physically. She rose to the top on her own terms, lost it, and now she is getting it back God’s way. I believe in you. You can do it.
Make your mind up to start the journey.
I want to leave you with this powerful message from God’s word – I am praying for each of you and your destiny! God hath need of you – 1 Corinthians 2:9 states, “However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” things God has prepared for those who love him.”
All God’s best,
This has been an amazing year filled with ups and downs
When I think about how much God is doing for AskTani.com, I am amazed by a Mighty God. It’s definitely true—“God will do exceedingly above what we ask or imagine according to the power that is working within us” (Ephesians 3:20). This has been an amazing year filled with ups and downs. It has been filled with events that have propelled me to the next level. I would like to highlight three aspects that greatly impacted me in the areas of business, personal and spiritual growth.
Your passion is that “thing, cause, or calling” you have embraced and are willing to sacrifice life and all your resources to obtain or accomplish. It’s the thing that keeps you motivated, excited and enthusiastic about life, even when things are terrible. Your passion speaks to you daily. When you are ready to throw in the towel, you won’t because of your passion. Your passion will not allow you to settle for average or where you presently are. Instead it calls you to fulfill the greatness that’s erupting inside of you. Your passion helps you become more than what you are right now.
Through his mentorship program he helped me think through processes, ideas, situations, circumstances and other aspects of how we conduct business. His strategies allowed me to see the worth of our services and revamped our pricing structure. Through his coaching, I was able to gain insight into how I would be able to better connect my passion with my client’s needs therefore, giving them the attention they needed to prosper. His team played an integral role in launching AskTani TV which was a great success. I received clarity regarding being consistent with ideas and not becoming overwhelmed by different ideas. God gives us different ideas and we have to learn how to evaluate which idea is connected to our purpose. I believe that connecting with VinceonBusiness helped me understand which ideas served my purpose and benefited the company. VinceonBusiness is definitely the person you need to connect with. If you have an idea, he will help you execute it.
This Needs To Be Said gave me a platform to share my passion for money and credit. I was able to share my gifts to a diverse audience through radio. I also learned from Carolina Christian Toastmasters. I learned not to allow fear to stop me from speaking. Carolina Christian Toastmasters served as a team of encouragers. They also gave me tools to effectively communicate my passion for money and credit.
The food drive was phenomenal and the food drive allowed exposure to my community serving side. The food drive was successful and rewarding on so many levels. This brings me to another individual that I would like to thank. Alana V. Allen with I Am A Queen, assisted me with the Thanksgiving Food Drive. She also gave me an opportunity to speak to the youth at the I AM A Queen Teen conference. The conference was remarkable.
Jada Drew owner of Social Designs and Director of Multicultural Department at Guildford College is another powerful individual. She allowed me to teach “Business Concepts” to the Africana Change Jr. program at Dudley High School. I spoke to the students about business. We created business plans and I provided them with insight into business ideas & money. What an amazing experience.
I can’t forget Mrs. Catherine Newsome, Chief Executive Lady of 5-Star Lady Corporation. It was an honor to be the financial speaker for her Healthy vs. Toxic Relationship Workshop. I spoke at this workshop in the beginning of 2013. The topic was “The Relationship of Money & Credit". The ladies were ready to learn. I personally came back from the conference fired up. It was amazing.
Spiritual Lesson: Spiritual growth is uncomfortable when you are trying to achieve the impossible. Bill Johnson in “Manifesto for a Normal Christian Life” says if you are not reaching the impossible, then you are not growing spiritually.” There is a pleasant discomfort with greater reward.
I also learned to rest whenever I found myself overworked or overwhelmed. I rested in God’s promise. I realized that rest did not equal inactivity. It became the peace or calm in the center of a storm. I learned a valuable lesson in business. If you feel stressed or overwhelmed, go to Jesus and he will give you rest and guidance therefore, God will exceeds your expectations each time.
Let’s finish the year out strong and set up 2014 to be a truly exceptional year. The best is yet to come. You must believe this for your business and personal life. Join AskTani in making 2014 the best year of our life...
Gracias (Thank you) to each of you that contributed to our growth. Most importantly thank you, to my clients that believed in me and are growing with me.

Lenders take your credit score and a few other pieces of your information into consideration, such as age and salary, and make a decision about how your loan will play out. In short, a high score will be less risk, therefore a lower APR and less overall cost to the borrower.
Here’s a chart comparing APRs and total cost for a 30-year fixed mortgage on a $500,000 house: Credit Score APR Including interest, your house will cost…
- 760-850 4.01% $860,760
- 700-759 4.24% $884,160
- 680-699 4.41% $902,880
- 660-679 4.63% $925,560
- 640-659 5.06% $974,880
- 620-639 5.60% $1,003,560
What I get from this is that by keeping a good solid line of credit from NOW until the purchase date of YOUR home (whenever that may be), I will lower my monthly mortgage payment almost $500 a month and end up saving myself near $150,000 in the long run.
